Organization of the Westerstede Bundeswehr Hospital

With its ten medical specialties, the Westerstede Bundeswehr Hospital is a center of competence on health issues of the armed forces in the northwestern area of Germany. Also, it is fully integrated into the civilian health network of the Ammerland region and its outpatient, inpatient and rehabilitation treatment facilities are open to civilian as well as military patients.

Although treatment is no different from treatment in a civilian hospital, our internal organization and the structure of our non-clinical elements as well as our staff structure are quite different. This is because civilians and soldiers work side by side in our hospital. There is, for example, a headquarters section staffed with military personnel only, who assist the hospital commander mainly with administrative and logistic processes concerning military issues.

A special feature of our hospital is our cooperation with the Ammerland Hospital. Together, we have established the Westerstede hospital center. The joint use of resources allows us not only to optimize our patient treatment processes, but also to work more effectively and, last but not least, more economically.

The central departments support the medical specialty departments and make sure that the everyday business operation of the hospital runs smoothly.

Therapy and care support facilities

We offer our therapy and care support facilities to support and accelerate your recovery with any means required.
