Data and figures
General
The Westerstede Bundeswehr Hospital is the largest military treatment facility in northwest Germany and is fully integrated into the civilian health network. Together with the Ammerland Hospital the new military hospital (built in 2007) constitutes the Westerstede hospital center, a cooperation that is unique in the Bundeswehr. Outpatient, inpatient and rehabilitation treatment facilities are available both to military personnel and civilian patients. The Westerstede Bundeswehr Hospital replaces the Bad Zwischenahn Bundeswehr Hospital.
In cooperation with the Ammerland Hospital, we are able to provide continuing standard medical care. Because of our expertise in emergency traumatologic care we are also an integral part of the regional emergency rescue system. A special feature of our hospital is the outpatient pain clinic for people who suffer from chronic pain, which is a facility accredited for the treatment of patients covered by statutory health insurance.
Apart from providing optimal regional and supraregional medical care, one of our main tasks is the initial training and follow-on training of our military medical personnel to prepare them for missions in foreign countries.
